International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The official date for this United Nations celebration was on December 3rd, but it’s not too late to participate. One day a year isn’t enough, after all, to really make a difference in someone’s life.
After a UN proclamation in 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been held by the UN to promote the rights of and campaign for better quality of life for persons with disabilities. They have achieves great strides since then, and this year’s theme is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.” This is part of the greater UN push for sustainable development in political, social, economic and cultural life.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development sees persons with disability as both beneficiaries and agents of change. With support, a more inclusive and resilient society overall can be achieved.
Sustainable Bamboo this Christmas Season
At The Bamboo Factory, we believe that bamboo can make a real difference in the lives of people everywhere. It is a highly sustainable, eco-friendly plant resource that has many different uses across industries.
It is our overall goal to bring this amazing bamboo plant across the globe as an alternative to more destructive and less healthy materials. As part of that desire, we want to promote its health benefits for persons with disability this Christmas season. Moreover, we perceive sustainable bamboo as an apt representation of the general aim of the UN for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Bamboo has many amazing characteristics, some of the most beneficial relating to quality sleep. Sleep is the body’s natural healing process, and for many persons with disability, sleep does not come easy. They are no strangers to discomfort and pain, and this is where our bamboo products come in. We have searched globally for organic bamboo products that combine the natural benefits of this plant with modern ergonomic technologies. The result is a range of Bamboo Factory products that provide greater comfort for pain relief and better sleep for overall health as well as durability so that long-term benefits can be enjoyed.
