The Bamboo Factory is pleased to have been given the chance to donate its reusable sanitary pads to a WarnerMedia x Actionaid community project. Actionaid is a global women’s rights and social justice movement that seeks to promote positive change in communities through social awareness and empowerment. They believe in the power of the people to bring on this lasting positive change.
One of the areas served this year is the village of Elangata Wuas, Kenya, a focal point of the June mission trip. And a focal point of the aid shared was in support of education. Education is a very important part of everyone’s life, and it is sorely lacking in areas like Elangata Wuas where many women suffer a great disadvantage.
The Bamboo Factory joined other sponsors such as The Floating Lotus, Baba Boo, and Eco Dreams to provide supplementary support for the students. The Bamboo Factory sponsored 184 5-pack Bamboo Charcoal Reusable Sanitary Pads to help with the needs of school-aged Kenyan women.
These re-usable sanitary towels were distributed to girls and young women in the village, care of WarnerMedia Northern Europe Senior Production Coordinator Lauren Purdy. The young ladies of Elangata Wuas longer need to skip school and miss out on an education for lack of hygiene products.
As part of the effort to improve education in the village, volunteers from WarnerMedia’s Northern Europe division raised over £42,000 to complete a new school building.
These ladies along with the ladies of the village community shoveled, bricked and danced their way to laying the foundations and building up the walls needed to accommodate additional students. As early as December of this year, the new school building will be ready for use.
To celebrate this victory for the ladies of Elangata Wuas, we are giving everyone 20% off their next Bamboo Factory purchase. Just type in the code LOVE2CARE at checkout and your discount will be applied. But hurry! -- This offer is valid until October 10th only.
